In alignment with the PHSU overall vision the Language Support Program pursues to create competitive health professionals fluent in the most spoken languages in the world: English, and Spanish. Enhancing PHSU’s ability to sustain its competitiveness worldwide.

Our Mission

LSP will direct all efforts to identify and provide a tailored individualized advancement language support. LSP’s focus is student centered and aims to transform basic performer into a proficient performer in the second language through traditional and innovate teaching technics.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Language Support Program is a service for every health program in PHSU Institution. Through a coaching and mentoring approach, the program seeks to empower students overcome language and cultural barriers. The program focuses on individual needs and adapts to students pace, goals and progress. The secondary languages assessed are American English and Spanish.

Our services

Language Assessments in English and Spanish

Standardized Language assessment provided for all Spanish learners and English learners.

Tailored Language Program

LSP will design a tailored program according to assessment results to reinforce language skills considering academic work load.

Progress Reports

Reports are provided for following progress however, it’s not part of a student’s academic GPA.

Low- Stress Learning Environment

Students have an active say in their learning process. Together students and instructor create a unique atmosphere for learning in a free nonjudgmental space.

Private/ Group Coaching Session

Sessions are provided to entice language acquisition [On Campus/Zoom]

Helpful Guidelines

Each participant will receive a helpful guidelines and recommended tips for language training.

Cultural Activities

Since culture is a transmitter of language LSP coordinates enriching activities to reinforce both language and cultural skill sets.

Other

LSP does not limit to only these services but is open to provide help upon request.

Qualified to participate:

Spanish Learning Project [Spanish Reinforcement]

  • U.S.A. Candidates for MD Program, by default will be assessed. Language Assessment is required and used as criteria for admissions.
  • All U.S.A. MD Candidates admitted and enrolled must participate under the Executive Policy Committee.
  • All International Students

English Learning Project [English Reinforcement]

  •  Any enrolled PHSU student can voluntarily request service.
  •  Student referred by dean, faculty, mentor or coordinator.
  •  Results from Standardized Language Assessment.
